An Arab Picnic in the Scandinavian Forest

So last weekend my three friends and I took a break from all the hustle and bustle of Amman and went to the Scandinavian Forest (located north of Amman). With a population of over two million, it can get a little much at times. So what do Arabs do when they want a relaxing break from the city? Picnics! Since Jordan is a Muslim nation the weekend takes place on Friday and Saturday. Friday morning is picnic day. Families all around the country will wake up early, packing up their cars, they drive into the country. With late winter and spring being an especially beautiful time to picnic, many families were out. As the hills are covered green grass and beautiful flowers, its a picture perfect time. Now its time to make my European and American readers just a little jealous. It did get up to 21 C (70 F) and its still February! Okay sorry about that. Back to the picnic. With a metal box gill we had a traditional Arabic grill. We grilled spiced chicken, beef, tomatoes, onions, and chili peppers. This was all eaten with fresh pita bread we bought from the bakery that morning. Its a great time to kick back and eat till your full. I hope your enjoy the pictures of our picnic and some of the surrounding scenery. I hope you don't drool too much from the food. ;)
